The original aim for Our Circle was to simply have a fun "club" type setting to talk and allow other Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian, and Transgender teenagers in the area the chance to get to know people and make new friends. The youth group is always changing and we are open to expanding our activities to include games, movies, outings, etc. The group belongs to the members, so it's up to you what we do with our time together. A typical meeting involves Gay and Lesbian teens gathering at 6pm (if you're new and nervous, you can bring a friend who doesn't have to be gay). At that point, we form a circle on sofas and chairs. We then go around and share the "highs" and "lows" in our weeks. The conversation does not have to be about sexual orientation only, but can also be about difficulties at school, work, or home. Members of the group learn from the experience's of others and are able to lend support in handling issues related to coming out, heterosexism, and any other challenges you may be facing. It is also an opportunity to share and celebrate the things that are going well and the accomplishments in your life.
We sometimes have group questions or discussion topics. If you have any ideas for topics, please click HERE to submit them. Our moderator will get it and if it’s good, we'll use it in an upcoming discussion. Occasionally we will have BBQ’s, dances, bonfires at the beach, etc. All are always welcome. Hopefully you now have a general idea of what you can expect at Our Circle. If you have any questions though, please send us an email or give us a call and we'll be glad to answer any questions you have.
